Is it just we word-type folks who go through life noticing this stuff? I remember when the first "morning after" pill hit the market. I remarked to just about everyone I knew how puzzled I was that there wasn't a peep out of the press remarking on the irony of the name: RU486. No one knew what I meant.
Moi: I'm right with you. I've always been amazed at RU486 and have never heard a sound. I think I read sometime about a scientific basis for the name, but if that's the case, that coincidence is even stranger than the silence.
Speaking of strange coincidences, I was juggling a couple of projects yesterday. One dealt with the Clinton Foundation; the other is the book that had the NEPAD acronym, and then I came across the wonderful typo: internview. You can't make this stuff up.
